Hiro Heidi Inahara

February 2, 1928 — July 21, 2019

Hiro “Heidi” Inahara was born February 2, 1928 in Portland, Oregon to parents Kikuo and Tsuneko Shiogi from Naganoken, Japan. She passed away on July 21, 2019 at Clackamas, Oregon in her home with family.

Heidi is survived by her children Cheryl (Steve) Pomp,   Rob (Tracy) Inahara and daughter-in-law Neale Inahara, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons and her sibling Fudge Shiogi.  She was preceded by her husband, Yoshio and eldest son, Alan.

She was raised on a farm in SE Portland, where her father raised berries and produce. Heidi was in the 8th grade when her family was forced by Executive Order 9066 to relocate to an internment camp at Mindoka.  She had many memories of that historical time from being taken to the Expo center and placed in a train with covered windows and moved across Oregon into Idaho where the camp was located.   She has lots of memories of camp and made some lifelong friends.

Hiro, a boy’s name in Japan, was given to her at birth.  In college,  she and a friend decided to give themselves new names and she picked “Heidi” and it stuck.

Heidi met her husband, Yoshio at Pacific University, where they both were attending but did not get married until Yosh finished his pharmacy degree program at OSU. They were married in 1950 and bought Seaton Pharmacy where they both worked for many years.  Heidi worked in the post office and was the bookkeeper for many years.  Yosh and Heidi were married for 67 years.

After retirement, she volunteered at Epworth Methodist Church -  Ikoi no Kai hot lunch program where she enjoyed helping prepare the lunches.  She was also a dedicated member of Epworth Methodist Church.

Heidi loved her family, friends and was a warm and kind person.  She loved golfing, gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking and loved to play the piano.    She was a beautiful soul and was loved by everyone.  She will be deeply missed.

Her family asks that any contributions be made to:

Epworth Methodist Church or Ikoi No Kai hot lunch program
