Hiroshi was born in Troutdale, Oregon, to Sakajiro and Yaye Takeuchi. He was the second of five children. He graduated from Corbett Grade and High School, where he played both baseball and basketball. Hiroshi met and married Mary Natsuko Yabuki. The couple wed on April 7, 1946, in Idaho. From this union came two sons: Jerry and Lynn. Hiro and Mary owned and operated the Halsey Food Center from 1949 – 1968. He retired when he was 52 years old.
Hiroshi was a golfer and started playing in his late 40s. He played so proficiently, that he became a champion.
Hiroshi was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Mas, Shig, Shiro and Tad; and his wife of 55 years: Mary Natsuko Takeuchi. He is survived by his sons: Jerry and Lynn Takeuchi; Grandson: Jered Takeuchi; Granddaughter: Erika Takeuchi; Great-Granddaughter: Maren Takeuchi; and Great-Grandson: Jake Takeuchi.
