Ida DeVirgle Averette was born June 15, 1919 in Talladega County, Alabama and grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Ida was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Manuel Player. To this Union one son, George Allen Player was born.
Ida relocated to Portland, OR in 1963. Ida worked as a cook for numerous years. She later worked as an Environmental Services Specialist for Portland State University and retired as a Foster-Grandparent from King Elementary School.
Ida has a special place in her heart for people. Never meeting a stranger and always expressed what was on her mind. She enjoyed cooking and loved sharing her culinary expertise with others. While being an avid gardener she delighted in the fine art of wine making.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Ada Averette, brothers, Charles and Henry Averette, sisters Mamie, Zelma, Era, Minnie, Ella and son George Allen Player. Ida leaves to cherish her loving memories daughter in-law, Anita Player, and four generations of nieces, nephews, and a host of very dear friends.
All Praise to Jehovah for giving Ida 92 years upon this is a reason to celebrate. A time to celebrate life.
