Inez Delores Allen

October 5, 1935 — October 20, 2015

Inez Delores Allen was born October 5, 1935 to Edward and Bertha Lee Everett in Biloxi, Mississippi who preceded her in death.  She also lost two Brothers Edward Jr. and Joe Everett, her favorite cousin Harvey L. Knight and her nephew Joe Knight .

She is survived and leaves behind her only child David K. Allen, 3 lovely grandchildren who she loved dearly, Andre J. Allen, Zachary D. Allen and Gabrielle N. Allen.  Her daughter In-law Nova Hill-Allen and God daughter Daphne K. Hill, a loving sister Dorothy A. Knight, a whole host of nieces and nephews; and cousins, Brenda (John), Harvey Jr., Ramona (Jim), Beverly (RL), Joe, Iris (Barry), Dona (Nesby), Cynthia, and Gary.

Delores moved to Portland, Or in 1956 and began working at the Benson Hotel, Cotton Club, Geneva’s Bar and Grill and finished her working career with First Interstate Bank now known as Wells Fargo Bank.

Delores was known as “Dee” by most folks in the community and her greatest joy was her association with the Improved Benevolent and Protective Order Elks of The World (I.B.P.O.E of W). Her history with the I.B.P.O.E of W spanned over 45 years.

She was an active member of Dahlia Temple #202, Daughters of Elks (D.O.E) which is an auxiliary of Billy Webb Elks Lodge #1050. Amongst many titles and offices, she served as the Daughter Ruler, Recording Secretary, an officer for the Edna Basket Fez Education Department and the Louise Thomas Council.  She was the current NW State Association Daughter State President D.O.E, held the honor of Queen and many other offices.

I would like to thank all the brothers of the Billy Webb Elks Lodge #1050 and the Daughters of the Dahlia Temple #202, all the other NW State Association Lodges and Officers and Grand (National) Lodges and Temples.

Mom fought this cancer battle to the very end. She surprised many doctors and nurses that cared for her they didn’t realize how tough she was.  She was such a strong and fierce lady, which all of us know her to be as well as the no nonsense woman who we all love.

I thank the Lord that I was right by her side holding her hand as she transitioned.

I would like to thank the following people that were of great support during Moms battle:  Ms. Patsy Taylor, Ms. Deborah Roache’, Ms. Carla Stanlick, Ms. Ozie McCullough, Ms. Melva Holmes, Ms. Peggy Warren, Mrs. Gloria Starr, My Auntie Dot, Ramona, Iris, Barry, Nesby, Dona, Karen, Ric, LaJewel, Daphne, Nova, Zachary and Gabrielle and Andre and many friends and family that sent cards, flowers and Love.

I want to also thank all of the staff at the Fort Vancouver Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center; the Kaiser doctors and nurses and the Kaiser Hospice Team; Mike and Paul and the great staff at the Community Home Health/Hospice Center; the staff at Rose City Cemetery & Funeral Home; and all of my SEI family.

You will be greatly missed Mother, Grandmother, ‘Dee Dee’ Love You always your loving son David.
