Jack Vernon Lynde died at his daughter's home with his family near him less than 1 month after the death of his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Patterson. Jack, the son of George and Alice (Voltolini) Lynde, was raised in the Alameda neighborhood. He attended U.S. Grant High School and the University of Portland. From 1942 until 1947 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the U.S. and Japan. He spent his entire 35-year working career with the commercial construction firm, Robertson, Hay & Wallace. Jack and Jacquie raised their family on Sauvie Island, and moved to Summerplace in N.E. Portland after their retirement. Jack lived most recently at Holladay Park Plaza. Jack was an avid handball player for many years and then became an avid tennis player (with the Portland Tennis Center). He was also a long-time member of the Lloyd Athletic Club. He survived by his children: Russ (and his wife, Ann) of Dallas Oregon, Catherine (and her partner, Kevin Murphy) of Quincy Massachusetts, Tina (and her husband, David Lyons) of Portland Oregon, and Marianne (and her husband, Joe Lyons) of Portland Oregon. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren.
