August 19, 1939; Clarence Nailing and Ruby Kent were blessed a beautiful daughter named Jacqueline Nailing. Jackie, as most called her, was a native of Oregon. She attended school in Portland; Girl’s Polytechnic High School. Jackie loved sports, music, dancing, and also enjoyed cooking. Upon many things; she had broken and set records in track and field, and to this day she still holds some records in track.
If anyone knew Jackie, it would be a unanimous vote; she was a very vibrant soul. Jackie had a way of lightening up a room, sparking up a conversation, or setting fire to someone’s behind. She was short of being shy; she was very vocal and blunt. Toughness she wore very well, but she was sweet as not just sugar, but smooth as honey. Jackie loved the finer things in life. Many would testify, not only did she enjoy fine things; she conducted, composed, and carried herself with a sense and grace of class, respect and dignity. She loved having a good time, and enjoyed a good laugh.
By the year of 1958, Jackie had two children. She loved being a mother and the motherly duties of raising her children. She was blessed to give birth to a daughter, Lana Garnett Edwards, and a son, Dana Lamont Edwards. She was married to Donald Gladman twice; once in the year of 1982 and then again in 1984. This union of matrimony stood strong until death departed them on May 19, 2015.
In the recent years, preceding her death are her sister, Constance Baker and her granddaughter, DaVisha Lanae’ Morris. She leaves behind to mourn are her husband, Donald Gladman, her daughter, Lana Garnett Edwards, her son, Dana Lamont Edwards, her brother, Leo Turner, her sister, Shirlene McCoy, three granddaughters, Jaquin Jones, Ruby Tulley Robinson, and Shonie Jenkins; also two grandsons, DeAngelo Lamont Edwards, and Haron Waddy. Also she leaves to mourn are seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sons-in-law, and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the prayers, love, and support from everyone.
