James "Big Man" Miller was born on August 19, 1947 in Portland, Oregon to Mary and Harold L. Miller. To this union 2 sons were born, Harold Jr. and James (AKA Donnie).
Harold and Mary divorced; She later married Hillary Moss. To this union 1 son was born, Jerome.
James attended Elliot Grade School and Washington High School. He represented his school by playing a mean game of football. James often received rave reviews in the Oregonian, however his team never won a single game in his senior year.
Upon completing high school James volunteered for the U.S. Army. He fought bravely in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. These were brutal years for James, yet he proudly says they were his best years.
On January 30, 1981 James married Mary Sanders from Chicago, Illinois. They enjoyed life together for 31 years. Mary was the home decorator, and James cooked. He was an excellent teacher; he loved, scolded, and prepared stepson Romero for manhood.
On January 9, 2012 God called James home. Preceeding him in death was his mother and brother, Harold. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife Mary, stepson Romero, 1 brother, Jerome Moss, 2 nieces, Jennifer & Jamela Moss, 3 nephews, Andre, Aaron, and Ashton Miller; 3 great nieces, 3 great nephews, his masonic brothers; The Easter Star Sisters, the staff at Park Forest, and many friends.
We love and miss you James
