James (Jim) Allen Olsen, 55, passed away July 16, 2017 in Vancouver, WA. He was born and raised in Portland, OR, attending James Madison High School. Following high school, he joined the Navy and retired after 20 years of dedicated service to our country. During this time, he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer focusing as a fire control technician and a Navy recruiter. He excelled and was awarded Recruiter of the Year. More recently, Jim worked as an Electronic Technician at the Portland Veterans Medical Center. He volunteered there as well.
Jim loved his family, dogs, fishing, and the outdoors. He had a fondness for old Ford Mustangs, classic rock & roll and was an avid reader. Jim will be remembered for his warm heart, kindness and teasing sense of humor.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Olsen; father John Olsen; stepmother Maurine Olsen; brother Kelly Olsen and stepsister Teri Casciato. He is survived by his children Lexie Morton & Dylan Olsen; grandchildren Nick, Noah & Haylie Turneanu; sisters Carol Ann Olsen, Kimberly Olsen, Tami Marick; stepsisters Gina Stephens & Annette Cyphers and many other loved family members and friends.
A service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery with full military honors on Monday, July 31st at 1:30pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the Clark County Veterans Assistance Program (http://ccvac.net).
