Jess K. Toda

Jess K Toda passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021 surrounded by family.  Jess is survived by his 3 children Janice, Rick and Nancy and 5 grand children, Nick, Matt, Mark, Jessica and Jamie.  Jess was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kumiko in 2017.

Jess lived a full life, being born in the Dalles, Oregon.  His mother took him to Japan at the age of 7.  The war started in 1937 with China so he was unable to return to the USA.  Jess graduated from Okayama-chu high school in 1948 and attended Osaka University from 1948 - 1949.  In March of 1950, he returned to the US and by February 1951 he was drafted into the US Army.  In the fall of 1951 he was sent to Korea and discharged in 1953.
Jess had many rewarding career experiences, the most memorable was his time at Butterfield Bros. starting in1954, Mayer Brothers starting in 1962 and Simon Golub & Sons for 10 years until 1997.
Jess married Kumiko Ono in 1955 and created a wonderful family.  He lived a full and rewarding life.  Golf was his passion and he achieved what very few people do, 2 Hole in Ones!  Jess will be missed and remembered fondly for his sense of humor and outgoing personality.
Jess Toda will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery after receiving military honors at a private ceremony.
