Dale Christiansen was born September 07, 1925 in Elgin, OR to Toby and Eva Christiansen. The family later moved to Portland where Dale attended Rigler Grade School and Grant High School.
During WW II he served in the US Navy, 1944 – 1946, in the Pacific Theater, aboard destroyers Harry F. Bauer DM 29 and Robert H. Smith, DM 26.
After the war he married Lorraine Swank. They were parents to Brent Christiansen, Jean Elliot, and Nancy Popma. Lorraine died in 1997
Dale then married Florence Stoss Hale in 1998. They spent many years traveling and wintering in Yuma, AZ. Dale is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Returning to school after military service, Dale received his B.S. degree from Oregon State – Lewis and Clark, and received his M.E. from the University of Oregon. He was an elementary school teacher in the Portland Public School District, retiring in 1985. Most of his teaching years were at Creston Elementary.
Dale loved baseball and played at Grant High School, Oregon State, Lewis and Clark, and the Portland City League. His other interests were square dancing, golf, fishing, and international travel.
