Obituary

Joann ‘Lady’ Rollins was born December 22nd, 1934, in St, Joseph, Louisiana to the late Earnest Rollins and Georgiana Brooks. Our beloved Mother and Sister in Christ entered eternal rest on December 12th, 2020 at 4:13 Pm at Laurelhurst Village in Portland Oregon with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her Husband Raymond Lomax, Grandmother Mama Jo Brooks, Parents Earnest and Georgiana, Sister Esther Dixon and Brother-in-Law Eugene Dixon. As a teenager, she met and married Freddie Lee Shavers in England, Arkansas in 1948. From this union they had six children. In 1956, she moved to California to be closer to her Mother and Grandmother. She began working in Oakland in the mid 1960’s, at several jobs she enjoyed. She met and married Raymond Lomax, and relocated the family to Portland, Oregon in 1969.After the death of her husband Raymond, she began working for Crown Zellerback Paper Company, retiring after 20 years.

Sister Joann ‘Lady’ Rollins accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. In 1974 she rededicated her life to Christ and she began attending Marantha Church. She gained many new friends that helped her through some hard times, and with the help of their love support, and the presence of Lord Jesus Christ in her life, she began to smile, laugh, and enjoy life again. She felt truly blessed. She loved helping out in any way she could and will be genuinely missed by many people.

Sister Joann ‘Lady’ Rollins leaves many family members to cherish her memory. Her children: Shirley, Arthur (Cynthia), Diane (Woody), Ricky (Andrea), Carla, Debbee, Tina (David), Olivette ((Stephan).Her Grandchildren: Arthur Jr, Twins Shalonda (Deceased) and LaShawnda, Deiadara, Jeffery, Jonathan, Ricky Jr., Donnie, Candace, Darnell, DeAngelo, Brandon, Ryan, Austin, Ashley, Elijah, Eleigha, Exauler, Dontonio and a host of loving Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, extended Family and many Friends.
