Joanne R. Doolittle

September 12, 1950 — May 25, 2007

Joanie Doolittle (56) passed away on Friday May 25th after a long battle with Hodgkina(TM)s lymphoma. No one could have put up a more courageous fight. She was born in Portland on September 12, 1950, attended Madison High school. She met and Married Denny in 1970; they celebrated their 37th anniversary together on Friday May 18th. She retired from a position she loved, in Parkrose school district in 2004, due to health issues. In her younger years she was involved in many activities, Cub scouts, and Boy scouts with her boys, they both made Eagle Scout, making her very proud... In the last year she became involved with The Red Hat Society; she loved the outings, and loved to laugh. She and Denny were very active with the Hoodview Amateur Radio Club; Joanie got her license after watching Denny and discovered her love for it as well. Several women in her group followed and became licensed. She never met a person she didna(TM)t like or for that matter that didna(TM)t like her that was how she was. Joanie is survived by her husband, Denny, sons Nick, Randy and his wife Kelli. All Joanie wanted to do was live to be "Grandma". She was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters Bailey, and Riley who will miss her terribly. They made her worst days seem bearable. She loved to baby-sit and teach" her girls" to sew and do crafts. She was a very accomplished seamstress and made beautiful quilts. She is also survived by sisters, Sue Axt of Wilsonville, Roxie Howell, of Texas, Vicki Savageau, Cecily Kernan, Chris Mannhiemer and Kathy Arthur all in the metro area. She will be missed by her in-laws, Libby and Paul and cousin Ellie Brown all of Portland. When asked what she wanted to be remembered for she said" she hoped she made a difference", we know she did, we will miss her. There will be a graveside service today, Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Willamette National Cemetery 11800 SE Mt. Scott blvd, Portland, Oregon
