OBITUARY
Joe Nathan Gooseberry was born July 2, 1946 to Nathaniel and Pearlie Gooseberry.
Joe attended Sitton Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. His work career began while attending high school working for the Imperial Hotel. Beginning a relationship with Arco Oil in the 70's in Portland Oregon that lead him to Seattle Washington ending in the late 90's and returning to the Portland area where he became a Man of leisure.
Many knew Joe as Joe, Bub, Goose and Joe Na to name a few. The outdoors was his passion. FISHING. Oh! The stories got so BIG, BOATING, he could Tie up with the best. The BEACH. Joe could spend hours even days feeling the sand beneath his feet or just looking toward the ocean as the breathless sunset faded into the horizon. Trips to RENO, his plans would be to spend only a couple of days which most often kept him there for a week, his winnings were GREAT.
Reflecting on a memorable time for Joe in his life was the Love he felt for Ellis and babysitting Ellis's first born, Drake. Even now picturing the two of them sitting in that small wading pool and hearing the commotion from the back yard, still brings a smile even in this time of sorrow.
Joe had a nickname for everyone, remember yours? Joe's sense of Humor was all his own. If you were to run into this unique Man by the time you left you would have forgotten your problem, because you would be filled with laughter.
Preceding Joe in death were his parents Nathaniel and Pearlie Gooseberry, his sister Katherine Hill and his brother Bernard Gooseberry.
Leaving on earth to mourn his death, his Godson Ellis Mullen and his son Drake; Brother T.J. Gooseberry; Sisters: LaVerne Hampton (Adron), Yvette Owens, Josephine Camel, Elaine Burge and Marzetta Gooseberry; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many Friends.
