Elder John B. Black was born August 26, 1916 in Dolomite, Alabama. He departed this life on August 19, 2010 at 7:40 am in Portland, Oregon. He was ninety three years of age.
He was the son of Horace and Leila Bell Black. John had three brothers and six sisters, and he was the youngest of them all.
John worked as a Merchant Seaman, then after he worked at San Francisco General Hospital as a custodian until he retired.
He was a member of the Church of God where he worked faithfully with Bishop Irving. He was dedicated to the church and reading the word of God.
He was blessed with three beautiful daughters by Ola Mae Mitchell and Shirley Howell, and three step sons.
John was a very kindhearted person and always had a word of wisdom to share, such as "The laws of nature will speak to you if you are willing to listen."
John will be dearly missed by family and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughters: Ruby Black, Gloria Jean Black, and Shonteil Fox; his sons: Denorval Wilburn, Troy Ramsey, and Anthony Ramsey; six grandchildren: Forrest and Tonia LeViege, Kie'Shawn Carr, Kya Fox, Kamora Fox, and Applonia Fox; two great-grandchildren: Tion LeViege and Tyler LeViege; and three nephews: Joe Black, Horace Black, and Howard Black.
