John Deleganes, son of Gust and Lula Deleganes passed away peacefully on October 3, 2018 in Clackamas, Oregon. He was born in Colfax Washington on January 24, 1924. He was a graduate of Colfax High School. During his early years he maintained the family farm in the Pennawawa Valley on the Snake River where they grew peaches, apricots and raised cattle. In the mid 50’s the Government declared eminent domain on the farm and John moved his family to Portland Oregon to start a new journey. John married the love of his life of 60 years, Ageliki (Angie) Maravellis on April 20, 1958 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Portland, Oregon.
After moving to Portland John worked at Portland Wholesale Grocery (now Sysco) until retirement. John loved his family and being a Papou. In retirement he and Angie were very active with their three grandchildren. During his retirement, John loved gardening, tending to the fruit trees in his backyard, telling old stories, watching sports, cooking Easter lamb and putting a smile on your face.
John was a loving, honest, hardworking, family man with a heart of gold and a god given gift of patience. The phrase “to know him, is to love him”, could truly be experienced by knowing John.
He is survived by his wife Angie, son Constantine (Nick) (wife Anna) daughter Luan Dollens (husband Tom) three grandchildren, Kathleen Deleganes, Sydney Dollens and John Dollens; siblings Inez Simotas and Catherine Mantzoros; many nieces and nephews.
