Judy Mae Poole

June 26, 1929 — January 16, 2019

Judy Mae Poole, 89 years young. Born Elsie Mae Caulkins on June 26, 1929 in Weatherford, OK, she was the oldest of ten children (two sisters and seven brothers).

Judy always did things in her own laid back way and didn’t let opinions impact how she lived her long life. She was fiercely loyal to family and loved spending time with her friends. A fanatical dog-lover, she always had a best friend by her side, even breeding bulldogs for a number of years. She was sassy and glamorous and always stepped out into the world with the perfect outfit, nails, hair and makeup, and amazingly, had beautiful brown hair until the day she passed on. She was funny and sarcastic and never missed a chance to give someone a little tease.

The wife of an expert fisherman, they enjoyed traveling by RV with their friends in search of the best fishing spots. Judy leaves behind the love of her life - her husband of nearly 40 years, Daryl Poole. He took care of her compassionately in her final years as she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and failing health and loved her to the end. She loved his back scratches, homemade pancakes for breakfast, playing cards, and spending time with their dog Lulu.

In addition to her husband, Judy had a loving family that will miss her dearly including 2 sons, a daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many extended and step-family members.

As the song says and so will the inscription on her internment plaque read, she was “A Very Fine Oklahoma Lady”.

Her ashes will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery.
