June Gunnesdal Panek was born in Portland, Oregon on August 20th, 1918. Both of her parents emigrated from Norway. June attended Vernon Elementary School and Girls Polytechnic High School. In 1936 June married Alfred H. Panek. She was his devoted wife of 48 years until his death in 1985.
June was proud of her career as a wife, mother and homemaker. June enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, sewing and gardening. She was very involved in all of her children's activities. June also had been an active member of the P.T.A., the Ladies Teamster's Auxiliary and the Women of the Elks.
In later years she enjoyed the Hollywood Senior Center and the Golden Age Club at the Neighborhood House Senior Center. June's true passion as a senior however, was going to Reno and local casinos with her companion Stanley Peterson and their tour bus friends. June also enjoyed corresponding with her cousin June who resides in Canada.
June is survived by her children (and their spouses) Al Panek (Sandy), June Dawson (Dean) and Susan Panek, her four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A private family service and interment was held. Donations may be made in June's memory to the Neighborhood House Senior Center, 7780 SW Capitol Hwy. Portland, OR. 97219, or Portland Providence Hospice.
