Junichi Nigo
June 17, 1926 – April 26, 2017
Jun was born in Waldport, Washington to Takeshi & Kimiyo Nigo. His parents wanted him to have a superior education, so they sent him to Japan to live with his aunt. Jun spent his childhood years in Japan. He was still in Japan when WWII started. He came back to the United States as a young man, however, because of the war, the United States revoked his US citizenship. He finally re-claimed his US citizenship in the ‘70s and his first voting experience was voting for Ronald Regan.
Jun was introduced to Ruth Maeda by mutual friends and they married on May 12, 1956. They had 2 daughters, Carolyne & Donna. Jun managed Temple Hotel during the ‘60s, then started a job at Esco Corporation as a shipping and receiving clerk. He was a 6th degree black belt athlete and was a judo sensei (teacher). Jun also had a love for gambling. Whenever Dad won, we would all get a share of the winnings!
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruth. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyne Savory (Philip), Donna Burgess (Todd), grandsons, Kevin Savory (Robyn), Alex Savory (Daniel) and 2 great grandchildren, Marco & Olivia. He also leaves behind his sister, Amy Yasui (Frank).
