Obituary of Kay Ellen Huang
Funeral Services are being held, 11am, Monday, August 5th at Rose City Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont St. Kay passed away in Denver, Colorado on July 25, 2013. She was 69 years old.
Kay was born in Hanford, Washington on March 20, 1944 to Ray Maxwell and Thelma May (Hanon) Shearer, the second of four children.
The family moved to Portland and this is where she was raised and graduated from Marshall High School. After Portland Kay moved to California where she worked at Sunkist Fruits. In 1971 she married and it was in the Philippines where she gave birth to her only child, a short time later her family moved back to California. In the early eighties Kay lived abroad in Hong Kong for four years, and has had countless travels throughout the world from Europe to Asia. In 2007 She moved to Portland to be with her sister and nieces. In 2010 she then moved to Denver to live out her life close to her son, daughter in law and grandchildren.
Kay was very active with her faith as a Catholic and loved her church. She enjoyed shopping (something she must have picked up in Hong Kong) shoes and purses were her weakness. An excellent cook, she loved to entertain in her younger years; a seamstress and a knitter, she gifted many a person with her talents. In her later days she was blessed with her two companions; Sierra a beautiful German Sheppard and Winston a caring and loving Pug.
Kay is survived by her son: Spencer and daughter-in-law Kelly, grandsons: Mykah and Drake, brother; Gary Shearer, sister; Sandy Silva; brother-in-law; Doug Walker, nieces; Randi Bressel, Amy Povey, Angie Frost, Kilee Silva, grand nieces; Hailey Bressel, Brooklynn Povey and grand nephew; Evan Bressel. Predeceased by her sister, Linda Walker
Committal services to be held at Lincoln Memorial Park.
