Kenneth Laverne Egbert, Jr passed away unexpectedly in Portland, Oregon on March 18, 2017. Kenneth “Kenny” was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 1, 1957 to Esther Egbert and the late Kenneth Laverne Egbert, Sr. Kenneth graduated from Author Hill High School in 1975. He was an active member of the boys scouts and attained the level of Life Scout. Because of his deep baritone voice Kenneth was invited to attend the Interlochen Center for the Arts, a worldwide attended art center.
Kenneth was employed at Greyhound Bus Lines for 29 years. He was a well-respected employee. Kenneth’s job took him up and down the I-5 corridor in Washington state and into Canada. Kenneth was well known by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and Homeland Security and recognized and admired for his dedication and love for his country and the safety of his passengers.
Kenneth was a universal tissue donor. His donations will help up to 50 people.
Kenneth was a die-hard Star Trek fan. He loved listening to music, food, eating donuts watching 70/80's movies, horror films, and being home with wife and family.
Kenneth is survived by his wife and life partner of 30 years Sally (Slack) Egbert. In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by his mother Esther Egbert and 9 children. Kenneth the 3rd (Elizabeth), Joshua John, Emily Marie (TJ), Chris Egbert (Paige), Charity Grace, Chantelle Louise (Bobby), Heidi Rose ,Christopher Theadore, Mark Andrew, 10 grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews. Kenneth is also survived by his brothers and sister. Mike Egbert (Laure), Don Egbert (Susie), Robert Egbert (Jennifer), and Ruth Frey (John).
A memorial service was held on March 29, 2017 at Rose City Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon. Kenneth was deeply beloved by many and is greatly missed.
