Kenneth Marvin Self

Marv Self passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2023 in Vancouver, Washington with his daughters and closest friends by his side.

He was born September 26th, 1947 in Spokane, Washington to Eva and Ken, or "hatched" as he loved to say, joining his older sister Janet. The family moved to Portland, and settled on NE Prescott St, before moving to NE Alameda St. He was a proud alumnus of Madison High School, class of 1965 (fight, fight), and later graduated from Oregon State University. He then settled in West Linn, Oregon with his wife Cathy and 3 daughters Carrie, Lindsey, and Tracy.

His later years were spent in Lake Oswego, and most recently Vancouver, Washington. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, Miles and Lily.

To try and sum up Marv's life would fill a novel or five. He was charming, hilarious, and could spin a yarn like no one else. He will be remembered as a loving father, an amazing grandfather, a wonderful cousin and relative, and a lifelong friend to many.

Marv is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Eva Self, his sister Janet Johnson, and his daughter Tracy Self.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Carrie and Lindsey Self, his grandson Miles Lindsey and his granddaughter Lily Eaton.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you for the support and kind words received since his passing. No service has been scheduled at this time but will be posted as soon as it is arranged. In lieu of flowers, please raise a toast to Marv. He was quite a guy.
