Kenneth Gustav Weigel was born on October 24, 1918 in Portland to Gustav and Ethel Weigel. A lifelong Portland resident, Ken was a graduate of Washington High School. He married Ruth Marsh on March 24, 1939 in Portland. Ken was a sheet metal worked for AFL-CIO. He had been the business agent for 23 years, and the business manager for four years for Local 16 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. Ken had served on the Presidential Committee on environmental issues for the National Sheet Metal Workers Union. Ken and Harold Halverson started the Sheet Metal Workers Credit Union. Ken was also involved with Scouting and was a skipper for the Sea Scouts on the ship Dana. Ken passed away on August 28, 2009 at his home in Portland at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife Ruth; his children Nancy Jaureguy, Edwin Weigel, Jerrine Fussell, James Weigel, William Weigel, and Kenneth Weigel; Nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
