Kimberly Ann Doctor

October 11, 1962 — August 21, 2019

Kimberly Ann Doctor passed away at sunrise on the 21st of August, at the age of 56. She waged a valiant and determined battle with early onset Alzheimer's.
Kim was born October 11, 1962 and raised in Portland, Oregon, the beloved daughter of Brig Gen (r) Bill Doctor and Sue Ann Doctor.  She attended Beaumont Grade School and U.S. Grant High School graduating, with Honors, in 1980.
She was a gifted and fearless athlete, lettering; in soccer, basketball and softball and was a starter on Grant's soccer, basketball and softball teams.  Played on the Grant's basketball team which placed 4th in State, and Grant's softball team which placed 5th in State and was selected twice to the PIL's all-city soccer team. She then attended and played basketball for the U. of Portland.
Her childhood was rich with summer vacations with family, friends and dogs at Sunriver and Clyde and Jerri's A-frame cabin at Cape Falcon. She and family were fans of the original 1975 Portland Timbers. The highlight of her 16th birthday was a surprise visit by the Timber's Tony Betts #14, which, of course, Kim adopted as her #.
Kim had an affinity for finance and thus started her career as a teller at Washington-Mutual bank in Portland. After several years in banking, she moved to the mortgage sector, becoming a mortgage underwriter, working in California and Oregon.
The highlight of her life was meeting her soul mate and life partner of 17 years, Brenda Schantzen. They both loved the excitement of travel and traveled from Europe, to Mexico, Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands, even to Bora Bora.
Kim also enjoyed reading, gardening, fly-fishing, hiking and volunteering for Special Olympics, Mother and Child Education Center and Meals-on-Wheels. She loved all animals, especially her dogs Stella and Jett.
We will forever miss her wit, wisdom, sense of humor, that infectious smile and vibrant soul.
Kim is survived by her life partner, parents and; brother John Doctor, sister Heather Doctor-Laber (Mark), Step-Mother Carol Laughlin, step-sister Jennifer Laughlin, Uncles and Aunts, Clyde and Jerri Doctor, Jon Ollerenshaw, Jay Ollerenshaw and nephews Matthew Doctor, Jonathan & Andrew Laber and niece Ashlie Doctor and grand-niece Auzriel Doctor
