LaVelle M. Russell

Mrs. LaVelle M. Russell was born on August 31, 1921 in Portland, Oregon to Frederic and Jessie Kelly. She was raised and educated in Portland, attending Ockley-Green Elementary School and was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She married Charles Russell in 1946. She had worked as a driver, early in life as a taxi driver, and later for a charter bus company. She was a life long tennis champion who was nationally ranked (#6) in the 85 year old bracket. LaVelle was a member of St. Mary's by the Sea Catholic Church, and was the church organist there for many years. She has resided in Alpine, California for the last 54 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1980. She died on March 4, 2008 in Portland at the age of 86. She is survived by her children: Michael Ransom, Linda Breaker, Roger O'Kelly, Kelly Russell, and Jessie Russell; her brother, Thomas Darrell Kelly; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
