Lawrence Cranford
December 4, 1933 — May 14, 2008
Lawrence completed his education in Texarkana, Arkansas. He served for two years in the U.S. Army. In 1962 he moved to Portland, Oregon where he met and married Helen Smith. They were married for 42 years. Together they raised three beautiful children.
Lawrence worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, until he retired in 1992. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In 2006 Lawrence dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized. He attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with his wife until his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mamie Cranford. His brothers: Eddie Cranford, Lewis Cranford, Lonnie Cranford, Josh-Wrth Cranford, and William Cranford, Jr. His sisters Bessie Cranford- Miller, Lula Cranford, Elnora Cranford-Roper, Valree Cranford-Allen, all of Texarkana, Arkansas and his cousin Leo Young of Dallas, Texas.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Helen, His son Mark Smith of Portland, Oregon, His daughter Lisa Parks (Ron) of Atlanta, Georgia. His daughter Lynette Scott (Timothy) of Portland, Oregon. Also he leaves to mourn his sister Vestie Cranford-Banks of Altadena, California, and his niece Carolyn Roper of Dallas, Texas. His seven grandchildren, Michael, Markis, Ronnie, Lawrencia, Jalisa, Jazzmen, Alijah and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
