Lawrence Sims

Funeral Services will be held 1pm, Thursday, April 24 ^th , visitation Wednesday, 11-6pm and Thursday 10-12:30 at Rose City Funeral Home, Committal Military Honors and burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery.

Lawrence Joseph Sims was born October 1, 1947 in Portland, Oregon the second of four sons to Wiley Woodrow and Bessie Mae (Altman) Sims. Raised in Portland he attended Boise Grade School and graduated from Jefferson High School, class of 1965. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Viet Nam Conflict from 1965 until 1969 with the 2 ^nd LAAM Battalion being honorable discharged as a Sergeant. He came back home and attended Portland State University and in 1974 received his Bachelor of Science in 1974. He later went on to receive his Masters of Tax in 1991. He worked for PacifiCorp as a Tax Manager for many years retiring in 1998 after 23 years. After a couple years of retirement, he went back to work at Standard Insurance until 2008.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tisia, son Gabriel J. Sims, grandchildren; Lorelei & Evangeline Sims, Sha’Lynn King, Niya Tenpenny, Xander Overmyer, Special King, Allen King IV, Jordance Wallace and D’Anthony Williams. He is also survived by his brothers Wiley W. Sims Jr., Robert E. Sims, and Dr. Edward G. Sims.
