Leke was born in Troutdale, Oregon to Tatsuzo and Kisano Nakashimada. He attended and graduated from Columbia High School. He married Mary Meriko Hirata and they had four children.
Leke was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. He is survived by his children John Nakashimada, Diane Onchi, Debbie Nozaki, Lisa Nakashimada-Lee, five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
