Lena M. Thorud

Lena Margarette Thorud was born to Mario and Rose Cerruti on August 27th 1931 in Portland,OR. Lena attended West Gresham grade school, she learned to play violin and accordion. Lena graduated from Gresham high school in 1949, after graduating Lena taught Accordion at a music studio in Gresham, and worked as a Secretary for the Russellville school district in Portland.
Lena met Wilbur Thorud in 1951. Wilbur and Lena were married on August 1st 1953.
They resided in Troutdale where their first daughter, Janice was born in 1959. Son Terrance followed in 1960.  In 1963 Wilbur and Lena bought a farm in Corbett where their son, Douglas was born in 1965, and daughter, Linda in 1968.
Lena remained a homemaker. Her hobbies included sewing and knitting.
Lena was an avid bowler playing in many tournaments all over the U.S.. Lena was also the Secretary for her bowling league. Lena volunteered for the Multnomah County election board, the Vista House and for the Columbia Gorge Helping Hands program.
Lena was preceded in death by her father Mario, mother Rose and her husband Wilbur.
She is survived by her 4 children, 9 grandchildren,  8 great grandchildren as well as her brothers Richard and Jerry, and many many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Heart Association.
