Lena Mae Weisser passed away, Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Portland at the age of 88. She is predeceased by her husband James in 2004.
A Celebration of her life will be held, 3pm, Saturday, September 17th at Powellhurst Baptist Church, 3435 SE 112th Ave, Portland, OR 97266.
Lena Mae was born January 4, 1928 in Colone, South Dakota. She was the 6th of 10 children born to Leonard A. and Lena May (Balm) Crume. Sometime later she moved to Umatilla, Oregon where she worked as a waitress. It is believed it was here she met her future husband James “Jimmy” Weisser. They were wed on June 6, 1948 and just over a year later their only child Linda Carol was born on July 11, 1949. Lena was a caregiver and homemaker and she worked tirelessly. She was a faithful, adoring wife. Lena took joy in fixing Jim's lunch box every day of his married working life. Her world revolved around him. She was a loving mother to their daughter, Linda. Jim worked for Consolidated Freightway and they made a few moves - Spokane then Boise, living there for several years until they finally landed in Portland. Here they became active members of Evangel Baptist Church, which was an important part of their lives. Both Jim and Linda predeceased Lena.
Lena is survived by her siblings; Leona Harpster, LaVada Forbes, Lewellyn Crume and Loretta Erager, and several nieces and nephews.
Committal and burial services have been held at Rose City Cemetery, Portland, Oregon
