Linda Anne Tamlyn

1/05/1950 – 10/09/20115

Linda Anne Tamlyn was born in Butte, Montana on January 5, 1950 to Joseph and Elizabeth Tamlyn.  While still a small child, Linda and her parents moved to Portland and the family later welcomed brother Paul.  Linda always considered herself a true “Oregonian’ and a loving big sister.

Linda attended St. Rita’s elementary school, Holy Child Academy and Oregon State University.  Her school years were notable for her skills as a basketball and volleyball player, her friendships, sharing fun times and her ever so subtle questioning of authority and the status quo.

Truly a Renaissance woman, Linda was good at anything she tried. She was an accomplished and award winning quilter, a doll maker and a basket maker. Linda did stained glass work and enjoyed sewing. She was also an excellent photographer, and her work is embodied in the travel books she printed after visiting Viet Nam, Cambodia, Thailand, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Austria, Ireland, England, Scotland, and France.  Linda always had a fondness for cats and in addition to raising some special cats, she would often appear at social gatherings with unique “cat” jewelry.

Linda started her career as an Operator with Pacific Northwest Bell in 1968 and survived the many evolutions of that company to retire as a Project Manager from Qwest in 2006.

Always a strong Democrat and supporter of union workers, Linda served in several positions as a member of Communications Workers of America 7901.  Her radio was always tuned to progressive talk shows, her TV tuned to MSNBC, and her respect focused on Rachel Maddow as her news source.

Linda is survived by her brother Paul, friends Linda Rasmussen, Carolyn Schnoor, Jessica Eckley (to whom she was forever “Aunt Linda”), cousins and anyone who had the pleasure of ever meeting and being enchanted by her.  She will be missed by so many.

We will honor Linda’s life at the Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont, at 11:30 on Saturday, October 24 th , 2015
