Obituary of Louise Flippen

Mrs. Louise Flippen was born April 21, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the 2 nd of 9 children to the late Ernest and Leotha (Nichols) Brown.

Louise was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas where she attended Dunbar High School. Louise met the love of her life, Zack Flippen; a serviceman in the US Air Force and they were married on March 7, 1960. The family relocated during Zack’s time in the military, and made Portland, Oregon their permanent residence.

Louise Flippen worked at Emmanuel Hospital. During her time in Portland, Oregon, she became a treasured friend and surrogate mother/grandmother to many.

She departed this life on her Lord’s birthday, December 25 th in Portland, she was 80 years old.

She is survived by her five children: Deborah Hill of Lakewood, Washington, Brenda Boatwright of Portland, Oregon, Patricia Flippen of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kenneth Flippen, Sr. of Vancouver, Washington, and Cathi Flippen of Portland, Oregon. In addition, seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren whom she adored tremendously.

Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Bert Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas, Tracye Ross of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Madelyn Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister Eula Mae Brown; four brothers- Robert, Paul, and Lawrence Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas and Artis Nichols of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

God made a wonderful mother

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday January 5 th, 2015 at the Vancouver Ave. First Baptist Church, 3138 N Vancouver Ave. Visitation, 1-4 pm January 4 th Sunday at Rose City Funeral Home and Monday 10 AM before the Funeral Service at the Church. Repass will be held after the funeral service at 2-4PM at the Delta House
