Louise Lehl, beloved sister, mother, Grammy, Great Grammy, aunt and friend passed peacefully from this world to the next, surrounded by her loving family at the home of dear friend Annie RaLonde.
The youngest daughter of nine children, she was born in Ilwaco Washington to August Everet Ring and Alma Mary Niemi. Her childhood years were spent living in the tidelands near Naselle, Washington.
Upon moving to Portland, Oregon, she attended Jefferson High School and was introduced to Don Lehl by her life-long friend, Donna Linstead. She and Don were married on May 7, 1949 and had four children. Louise had a number of jobs including working as a "cracker packer" at Nabisco, an Aide at Shriner's Hospital and later in the Physical Therapy Department at Good Samaritan Hospital, where she made lifelong friends.
Everywhere Louise went she made friends. She always had a smile, a joke and big kiss or a hug for everyone. She loved nothing more than to entertain and have her family and friends gathered together. She would look for any excuse to cook a big meal so that she could get people together to enjoy each other's company.
And in the end, she made sure that she had 'all her ducks in a row', that everyone she held dear was doing okay and knew that she loved them. She had such grace and dignity and wanted to be the very best person she could be. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy.
Louise is survived by her children and their spouses: Steve and Judy, Tracy and David, Mike and Denise, and Lynn and Eric. Also six grandchildren: Brooke, Dylan, Ginny, Sy, Lauren and Alec; and one great-grandson: Eli.
She leaves behind her only remaining sister, Sally Remington and numerous nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews. Her husband Don preceded her in death.
We would like to thank the wonderful group of caregivers from Mt. Hood Hospice. Barbara, Jackie, Sammie, Dennis and Donna, we can't possibly thank you enough for your excellent care, love, and support of Lousie and her family and friends. You were such a tremendous support to both Louise and her entire family and we love you for taking such good care of our mom, as both a friend and patient.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Hood Hospice, PO Box 1269, Sandy, Oregon 97055.
