Lourine Eaton Hill
Lourine Fern Eaton Hill was born June 9, 1916 in Chewelah, Washington to Charles C. and Bertha (Bishop) Hill, one of five children. The family moved to Port Angeles, Washington in 1924 was she was raised graduating from Port Townsend High School, class of 1934. Her mother died when she was four years old in childbirth and was raised by her father who loved, care for and kept 1 son, 4 daughters together until they were adults. She grew up around a loving family consisting of a grandmother, many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, a half sister and several cousins. Lourine was very athletic and her greatest love was cars and driving then. She owned over 11 beautiful cars and clocked over a million and a half miles. She loved the theatre, musicals, Broadway shows and symphonies. She moved to Sacramento in 1935. She married Max E. Hill and moved to Portland in 1943 and divorced in 1949. She worked for as an office manager and as a full accountant for over 50 years and opening her own bookkeeping service for several years, retiring in 1985. She found real estate both interesting and lucrative owning server properties and loved to write poetry and stories. The poem in the memorial folder today was written by her on Easter Sunday, 1993.
Lourine is loved and survived by her nieces; Marceline Hulse, Nancy Tenneson and Sandra Hammond and stepdaughter, Linda Gunzel Miller, plus many great, great great nieces and nephews and cousins. Pre-deceased by; parents, sisters; Gloria Gilbertson, Elva Jacobs, and Marguerette Jervis, brother Jesse Eaton and half sister, Betty Dodson.
Private Inurnment were held at Rose City Cemetery.
