Born in Port Angeles, Washington to Bertha Williams and CT Cary. Luretta grew up in Port Angeles and Hoquiam Washington. She graduated from Hoquiam High School and Emanuel Nursing School (1939)
As an RN, Luretta worked for many years in both hospitals and physicians offices in the Portland metropolitan area.
Luretta married Edwin Geist in 1940. Together they raised three children, B'Lou Welch, Kathi Zimmer (George) and Ed Geist (Teri). Lou is survived by her three children, six grand children and nine great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1976.
Lou lived most of her life in northeast Portland. A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church she was active in a mariners group. She also enjoyed her volunteer work in the Emanuel Nursing School Alumni Association, Albertina Kerr Center, Campfire & Boy Scout organizations. She loved to travel and cruise.
In lieu of flowers please make contributions in her name to either the Campfire Columbia Council (Portland Or) or Emanuel Children's Hospital.
