Mable Louise Rush was born January 2nd, 1934 in DeKalb, MS, daughter of Henery Major and Thirsty Hampton. She was married to Lindburgh Rush on July 29th, 1950, until his death on January 2nd, 2007.
Lindburgh and Mable moved their family to Portland, OR in 1965. Mable was a stay at home mom until she went to work at Emanuel Hospital, where she ultimately became a supervisor, until she retired. After retirement, she worked part time for Portland Public School District for a few more years.
Mable was a God-fearing and loyal church goer. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church since her arrival to Portland. She was known for her love and flair for fashion. She was a “Head To Toe” dressed woman.
Mable was a listening ear and shoulder to lean on for many. She knew how to motivate you out of a negative space. She loved being active, shopping, going to plays and cooking for her family and others. She was famous for her homemade cakes and pies.
Mable had a passion for giving and helping whoever was in need. A great example is the effort and love she put into “The House of Hope” clothes closet at Morning Star.
She is survived by her daughters Bobby Rice, Redia Newsom, Zahra Asim, Doris Rush; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and God daughter Karen Smith.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Zolfaghari-Azar.
