Marie Bingman DeLashmutt Richard

Marie Richard, a resident of Tualatin, Ore., since 2000 who previously resided from 1958 to 2000 in northeast Portland, died Jan. 20, 2015, in a Portland-area care facility. She was 87.

Marie Elizabeth Bingman was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Pomeroy, Wash., the first of three children of Lawrence Emert Bingman and Edna Ida (Peterson) Bingman. She attended school in Pomeroy and after graduation from high school in 1945, she attended Washington State College (now University) in Pullman, Wash., for two years. On Nov. 6, 1949, she married Eldon DeLashmutt; they were divorced in September 1953.

She moved to Portland, Ore., in June 1958. On Aug. 26, 1967, she married Vincent Richard; they divorced in February 1971. She took early retirement in December 1984 from John Hancock Insurance after almost 23 years of service. She spent her remaining years doing volunteer work to help children.

She was a member of the Christian Church. Preceding her in death was her father on Oct. 2, 1975, her mother on March 25, 1983, and her brother Wayne Emert Bingman on Feb. 8, 2009. Survivors include her daughter Sandra L. DeLashmutt, grandsons Adam Higginson and Dan Iluzada, and grandson Tim Palinkas, his wife Amanda, and sons Grayson and Benjamin—all of Portland; sister-in-law Eleanor Bingman of Pomeroy, Wash.; brother Lawrence E. Bingman and his wife Sally of Troy, Idaho; and eight nieces and nephews and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 30, 2015,1:00PM at Rose City Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont St., Portland,OR,97213. Burial will be in Rose City Cemetery, Portland. Out of respect for Marie’s wishes, the family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to The Dougy Center, PO Box 86852, Portland OR 97286-0852; to the Portland Trail Blazers Booster Club, c/o Jayne Bailey, Treasurer, 16314 SE 16th, Vancouver WA 98683-4453; or to another charity of the donor’s choice to help the living, especially children.
