Marilyn Holbrook, a long-time resident of the Portland area, passed away, Sunday the 29th of September, 2013, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, at Sunnyside. She was born in 1939 in Portland, Oregon, to Lawrence Edginton and Gertrude Allen. She attended Poly Tech Girls High School. On Friday, November 13, 1957, Marilyn married her sweetheart Ronald F. Holbrook in Vancouver, Washington. Together they raised four wonderful sons. She loved dancing, and performed in many dance productions throughout the Portland area. Most of all, Marilyn loved being a stay-at-home mom, and raising her four children.
Marilyn was the most kind and selfless person, who was adored by everyone who knew her. She would do anything for her children and friends. She was a best friend to all. Marilyn loved good food and socializing with family and friends. She enjoyed many family trips. Marilyn had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and bring a smile to all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her husband: Ronald F. Holbrook, of Portland, Oregon; children: Lynn A. Holbrook of Orlando, Florida, Darrell R. Holbrook, of Portland, Oregon, Roger C. Holbrook, of Portland, Oregon, and Glenn I. Holbrook, of Vancouver, Washington; brothers: Larry Edginton, of Hazel Dell, Washington, Ross Edginton, of Lake Oswego, Oregon; sister: Sarah Edginton, of Tri Cities, Washington; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, family and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved sister, Virginia Olson, and one son.
Marilyn's family has a deep sense of gratitude, that defies explanation, for Margaret Francis, Marilyn's spiritual companion, and compassionate caregiver, who was with her during the critical years that Marilyn spent in a wheel chair.
