Marion was born to Olai and Ella Larson in Mekinock North Dakota in 1924. After graduating high school in Grand Forks, Marion left North Dakota and traveled west settling initially in Portland, Oregon. Soon after, Marion started work for the Bell telephone company and never quit – she eventually retired from the phone company in 1979. After a few years in Portland, Marion was transferred to San Diego California and enjoyed many happy years there until her retirement. Marion initially retired to Grand Forks, then to Pine Valley California and then finally returned to Portland to be near her sister Geneva.
Throughout her life, Marion was devoted to the Lutheran church and enjoyed participating in choir. Marion never had children of her own but was devoted to her many nieces, nephews and their children. Marion was an avid lover of word games, puzzles and especially scrabble – she travelled with a game board and was always thrilled when someone accepted her challenge to play.
Marion was able to drive her car until she turned 90 and enjoyed going on road trips throughout the Northwest. Marion was generous and thoughtful and always willing to offer rides to friends and family who could not drive. Marion is preceded in death by her sister Geneva and bothers Ordean, Ardell and half-brothers Allan and Herman.
