Martha passed away peacefully from natural causes with her sister Bernice (102) near her side in Portland Oregon at the age of 104. She was preceded in death by her brother Floyd, Sister Cora Osterhoudt, mother Ellen and father Lloyd. She is survived by her sister Bernice, cousins LeIsla Rippe and Edna Crismon and several second cousins. Born at the family farm in Burleigh County North Dakota, she graduated from Bismarck HS and attended a teacher's college in preparation for a teaching career that began in a one room schoolhouse in Burleigh County. During WWII she moved to Portland Oregon and attended the University of Oregon achieving a teaching certiA�A�A�cate upon graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Martha taught second grade elementary students at David Douglas School District until she retired 1974. After retirement she and her sister travelled throughout Europe, Asia the United States and Canada. She was an avid reader and supported numerous charitable organizations. She and her sister owned cabin at Ocean Park, Washington where they spent many weekends with family and friends at the Long Beach clam digging. Private arrangements are pending.
