MARY CHARLOTTE BROWN BRAWLEY, of Portland, Oregon, passed away due to natural causes on January 17, 2020 at the age of 77.
Mary was born November 14, 1940 in Portland Oregon to parents Dwight Howard Brown, and Glory Wyckoff, who precede her in death.
Mary grew up in a NE Portland home that housed three generations of her family.
She graduated from Grant High School and then went on to Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon.
She was a camp counselor for years where she taught youth to swim and navigate a canoe.
She was a gifted musician and enjoyed playing many instruments, Piano, Organ, Accordion, guitar, flutes and taught music lessons out of her home. As a young person, Mary played violin and viola in the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. She remained a big supporter and follower of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra throughout her life.
Mary was a 40-year member of Recovery Inc. and served as a group leader. This gave her comfort and support.
She is also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dennis Brawley.
A memorial will be held at Rose City Cemetery on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 1pm.
Any donations can be made to the Oregon Humane Society in her honor.
