Mary Jo Williams, aged 73, of Oregon City, Oregon, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 7th, 2024, after her valiant battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. Born in Portland, Oregon on March 4th 1951, Mary was the daughter of George Greenwood Sr. and Tessie Mae Greenwood. Mary met Willie Ray Williams and they were wed at the Multnomah County Courthouse on January 23rd 1967. Together they shared an incredible 57 years of marriage together.
Mary worked as a print shop lead at Consolidated Freightways, and then as a mail clerk at Boeing of Portland.
Residing first in northwest Portland, Mary eventually made her home in Oregon City. Exploring nature, trips out to the coast, and solving puzzles were things Mary loved to do in her spare time. Mary’s family was her proudest achievement – her many blessed children, grand and great grandchildren as well as her marriage of 57 years.
Survivors of Mary include: husband Willie Ray Williams Sr., sisters Anne Artega, Faye Hardeman and Annie Ruth Nicholson, two sons: Kevin and Willie Williams Jr., five grandchildren: Spencer Mason, Vince Williams, Willie Williams III, Drew Williams, and Katlyn Williams, and two great grandchildren: Kingston Mason and Maryam Williams.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Williams. The memorial service will be held in the chapel at Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home at 11:00 am on July 20th with a nicheside service to follow.
Following the celebration of life ceremony, we'll be having a family gathering at Golden Corral restaurant, located at 11801 NE Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98682, at 2:45 PM. We've reserved space within the restaurant for all of us to come together.
