Mel Osbeck born April 15th 1925 To Arvid and Anna Osbeck In Multnomah Oregon. He went to Jefferson High School and graduated in the class of 42 where as he then enlisted in the US Coast Guard. After the war was over he was Honorably discharged and came back to Portland Oregon. He then met his future wife Frances Arata in which they were married in 1946 and had a son Craig.
Melvin had many small restaurants and worked in many places up the opening of Mel’s Top Deck on Interstate avenue. From there he was asked to come to the Thunderbird Restaurant and manage by Ed Pietz one of the owners of the chain. He stayed there until he opened up Osbeck’s on Lombard.
He then opened up Osbeck’s Rose Manor on McLoughlin. Doing another small restaurant at 72nd and Woodstock. He then went on to manage many a restaurant in his later years.
In his retirement he spent a lot of time at Roosevelt high school volunteering in which he enjoyed speaking with the students there and others. He stayed at Assumption village and then moved to Marquis Piedmont in which was his last stop. Many thanks to the people at Marquis and the Providence hospice care for all their help.
He is survived by his son Craig, daughter in law Kim, Grand children Dustin and Kristi Osbeck, along with four Great grand children.
