Obituary of Mieczyslaw "Mitch" Cieply, Jr
Private niche side services will be held at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery. Mitch passed away in Portland on December 28th, he was 52 years old.
Mitch was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 30, 1960 to Mieczyslaw Cieply, Sr and Hedwig Zimmerman the 6th of nine children. Raised in Illinois he graduated from East Leyden High School, class of 1978. Mitch served his country during "Desert Storm Conflict" and was honorably discharged as an E-4. Mitch was always good with his hands and with hard work he became a machinist. In 1994 he moved the family from Necedah, Wisconsin to Portland where his older brother John lived. He was a member of Local 751 International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers. He worked for Northwest 4 Slide in Sherwood, JAE Oregon, Inc in Tualatin, Sulzer Pumps in Portland and his last employment at Boeing in Portland. Mitch was an avid hiker, enjoyed camping and his politics and was a mushroom forager.
Mitch is survived by his son; Mathew of Milwaukie, siblings; Jerry Swigost, Erika Herrman, Peter Pietkiewicz, Wesley Swigost, John Cieply, Christine Nielsen, Miroslaw Swigost and Robert Cieply.
