Minette McCloskey

Miniford Ellis Doumitt and Philip Doumitt were the parents of Minette McCloskey, who was born February 8, 1940. After Minette's mother passed away at birth, Minette was raised by her aunt, Lena Doumitt Lewis, Philip's sister, and George Lewis. Minette's brothers were Dick, Donald and Paul Doumitt and sister Leanore.

Minette's hobbies were theatre, music, collecting memorabilia, art and she loved horses; she was a loyal fan of Elvis Presley. At age 16 she lived with her first cousin, Violet Ellis Diamond and husband Nicholas Diamond and their children, Catherine, Michael, and George Diamond.  Minette went to Portland State and worked at the Oregonian.  She married Joe McCloskey in 1970. Their passion was German shepherds, which they bred and raised for many years. Jodel Shepherds (their business) earned a reputation as a well-respected breeder of many champion show dogs. Minette passed away March 3rd, 2018.  Remembrances may be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
