MIYEKO TSUBOTA
January 30, 1923 – February 2, 2018
Miyeko was born January 30, 1923 in Gresham, Oregon, the youngest of three siblings and graduated from Gresham High School. She and her family were interred at Minidoka during WWII. After the war, through family friends, she met her husband, Satoshi Tsubota, and they were married on April 14, 1946. They began life on a farm in Maryhill, WA, which is known for its peaches. She moved to Vancouver, WA in 1985 after her husband died. Now the fourth generation of family continues the farm operations.
Miyeko was very active in her church, exercise classes, and water color classes (through Clark College) once she moved to Vancouver. She also enjoyed many side trips with friends and family.
Miyeko is survived by one daughter, Linda (Brian Heimbigner), two grand daughters, Kristine (Greg Kruepke) of Waukesha, WI and Kali (Tom Andrus) of Issaquah, WA, and three great grandchildren, Cameron and Nate Kruepke and Harper Andrus.
The family would like to acknowledge the nurses and staff of the Elaine and Don Heimbigner Hospice Care Center for providing such wonderful care to our mom, grandma, and great grandma in the final weeks of her life. There she found peace and tranquility, which we are forever grateful for.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 3rd at 2 pm at Salmon Creek Methodist Church.
