Nancy Jean Coleman, born in 1934 to August and Ruth Kageler, attended Gregory Heights grade school and graduated from Grant High School Class of 1951. She was married to Norman Blair from 1953 to 1959 and had two sons, Scott Alan and Keith Douglas. She was then married to Edward Coleman from 1960 to 1974. They had two daughters, Kelly Ruth and Kacy Jo. In 1975, Nancy began working at Parkrose High School as a student monitor. As an avid sports fan, Nancy was excited to move into a position as Secretary to the Athletic Director, attending sporting events, selling tickets, timing track and swim meets, and chaperoning school trips. She was a student favorite at the school and continues to be lovingly remembered as “Patrolman Coleman” by alumni.
After over 20 years at Parkrose, Nancy retired at her home on NE 128th, staying busy with a full social calendar, spending time with family, and cheering on the Blazers. She maintained her Parkrose connections by collecting supplies for a student community project that benefitted local homeless shelters.
Nancy is survived by her older sister Jo Ann Robinson, four children, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at Parkrose United Methodist Church.
