Naveed Elahi, of Portland Oregon was born April 20th, 1949 and passed away in his home surrounded by family and loved ones on October 19th, 2020.
He attended school in the Portland Public School District. He later received his bachelor's degree from Concordia University and was later honored for his contribution in recognition of his service to the community and his academic work in pursuit of the Master of Arts in Human Services by Warner Pacific University in 2020. He was employed at NARA NW as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor since 1998.
Preceding him in death was his daughter Willesha Wade. He had 6 surviving children, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much, and they all loved him as well.
Naveed was an active and faithful member of the Moorish Science Temple here in Portland Oregon where he practiced his Moslem faith and taught about the 5 Tenets--Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice.
By looking at the many friends and family members who came to him for love, care and honest advice you knew he was a man that many trusted and could rely on to provide guidance and strength without judgment or ridicule. He genuinely loved and was loved by many.
Someone Is Missing
Let this be a loving reminder
That someone is missing today
Someone our hearts still hold on to
As we travel along life's way.
Someone who made life so special,
For all those who gather here
Someone who won't be forgotten
But cherished from year to year.
And now as we pause to remember
Let us all fondly recall
How dearly each of us loved him
And oh, how he loved us all.
