Nicola Jill Cochrane

August 6, 1952 — May 10, 2014

Nicky was born in London, England to parents Ian Lewis & Joan Mary (Wastell) Cochrane; 2 nd born, a sister for Simon and Matthew.

The family moved to the English Lake District, where Nicky developed a love of horses. She looked after ponies and rode them across the local countryside. After leaving school, Nicky trained as a riding instructor and worked for a riding school in Yorkshire for several years.

She first moved to the US in about 1976, gradually heading across the continent from Baltimore, Maryland to Los Angeles where she worked as a media buyer for Weiden & Kennedy.  Her job transferred to Portland in the 1980s, and she settled here very happily for her remaining years, working for Gerber and then O'Loughlins until very recently.

She was a very private person, but once befriended would remain loyal and steadfast, providing love and support to those who knew her.  She was fiercely proud of her nieces and nephews - they loved their distant exotic Auntie who pampered them from afar, never forgetting birthdays and the exciting Christmas boxes. And we all enjoyed and made the most of the opportunities when we met up.

She was very fond of all animals, but reserved special affection for her two cats Elmo and Ferbie (and their numerous predecessors).

We will all miss her enormously.
