Nikki Lynn Anderson passed away August 26, 2013 after a prolonged illness. She was born September 13, 1967 in Eugene, Oregon to Jack and Charlene Barrager. She was the baby of three children that included Greg Barrager and Deann Anderson.
Nikki graduated Sheldon High School in Eugene in 1985. She moved to Portland in 1989 with her then husband, Jerry Anderson.
In Portland Nikki worked for the downtown Hilton until she graduated from OHSU in Radiation Therapy in 1996.
Nikki's job took her to many places in the United States. She worked at hospitals and clinics in Kansas, California, Washington, New Jersey, and, of course, Oregon where she last worked for Kaiser.
In 1999 Nikki met her long-time partner, Eugene Powell. Nikki and Gene spent many years together raising dogs (Lucy, Mutt, Annie, and Eva), riding bikes, and taking trips to the beach.
Nikki was always an artist. She could draw beautifully, play piano, and knit. She loved to design things as well and had an excellent eye for landscaping and remodeling.
Nikki was an doting aunt to Alec Anderson, Bailee Barrager, and Isaac Barrager. She loved her niece and nephews tremendously and would do anything for them. She spent many freezing winter mornings inside hockey rinks watching Alec play hockey, or travelling to Eugene to attend birthday parties, graduations, baseball games, football games, cheer-leading competitions, and singing recitals for Bailee and Isaac.
Nikki was always a champion of the underdog. Whether it was taking in a rescue dog or knitting hats for homeless people, if Nikki felt a person or animal was not getting a fair shake, she would be their advocate and savior.
Above all else, Nikki was the best daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend anyone could ever hope to have. She will be missed and always loved.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Nikki will be held 11 AM, Saturday September 14th at the Portland White House at 11:00 am.
