Ovelia Marjell Lewis

On June 24, 1928, Ovelia Marjell Walker Lewis was born to Annias (Dixie) Walker & Bennie Nickleberry Walker in Cass County Texas. She was the fourth of eight children born to this union.

In 1948, Ovelia moved to Portland, Oregon with her sister Mae Reda Walker Allen (husband Rue Allen) and 3 children. Shortly after she came to the Pacific Northwest, she met and married Joe Lee Lewis Sr. on April 4, 1953. To this union five sons were born, 3 granddaughters, and 3 great-grandsons.

Ms. Lewis was a wonderful cook and she loved going fishing. All you have to do is say ‘let's go fishin’ and she’s ready to go. Ovelia loved living in Texas. She often reminisced about growing up in the county.

Ovelia is a loving woman who took care of her children until God's final call.

Ms. Lewis is preceded in death by Annias & Bennie Walker (parents), husband Joe Lewis Sr., Son Kevin D. Lewis, stepdaughter Beverly Lampkins, brother Laurs Walker, Sister Mae Reda Allen (husband Rue Allen), Lorene Walker, and Arthalia James.

Ovelia leaves to celebrate her life and legacy: Sons, Joe Lewis Jr. (wife Arlene Lewis), Douglas Lewis, Gerald W. Lewis, and Anthony Lewis. Grandchildren Ovelia D. Lewis, Frances Sheree Lewis (husband Heru-Ka Anu), Alexis Margell Lewis. Great Grandchildren, Terrance D. Lewis-Yeggins, Luquaz (Lucas) D. Green, Cory R. Eillot- all of Portland, OR. Brother Leon Walker, Sister Vannie Richardson, and Lennie Walker. And many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The Family's private Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 8th from via Zoom 2:00 PST

Her burial will take place at Rose City Cemetery on Monday, November 9th at 12:00 PM- arrival at 11:30a.m.
